Maintaining a Digital Asset

The Peak Performance & Health Protocol

A high-performance website is not a “set it and forget it” project. It’s a living asset that requires disciplined, proactive maintenance to stay secure, fast, and competitive. This protocol outlines the systematic monthly checks I perform to ensure your investment continues to operate at its peak potential, long after launch.

Phase I: Proactive Technical Maintenance

This is the foundation of long-term stability. We perform a full “pit stop” to update, clean, and secure the core systems, preventing problems before they can impact your users or your rankings.

Staged Software Updates
All WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates are tested in a staging environment before being deployed to the live site to ensure zero downtime.
Database Optimization
Monthly cleanup of post revisions, transients, and other database overhead to maintain query speed and a lean database.
Backup Integrity Validation
We don’t just take backups; we test them. A monthly check confirms the latest off-site backup is complete and restorable.
Security Log Audit
Analysis of firewall (WAF) and server (Fail2Ban) logs to identify and block emerging threats or unusual patterns.
Malware Scan Verification
Reviewing the results from automated server-side malware scans to ensure no threats have been detected.
Broken Link & Redirect Audit
A monthly site crawl to find and fix any broken internal or external links, ensuring a seamless user experience and preserving link equity.
PHP Version Compatibility
Ensuring the site is running on a modern, secure, and performant version of PHP and preparing for future updates.

Phase II: Performance & Core Web Vitals Monitoring

Speed is not a one-time fix. We continuously monitor the vital signs of your website’s performance to ensure it remains exceptionally fast for every user, on every device.

Core Web Vitals Tracking
Monthly monitoring of LCP, FID, and CLS metrics using both lab data (PageSpeed Insights) and real-user data (Google Search Console).
TTFB Monitoring
Verifying that the server’s Time To First Byte remains within the strict <150ms performance standard.
Uptime Log Review
Analysis of uptime monitoring reports to confirm the site has maintained 99.9%+ availability.
Page Weight Analysis
Monitoring the average page size to ensure that new content or features do not bloat the website and slow it down.
Cache Performance Check
Ensuring that the server-level cache (Redis) and CDN are operating correctly and delivering a high cache-hit ratio.

Phase III: Growth & Analytics Snapshot

Data drives decisions. Each month, you receive a concise, easy-to-understand report that summarizes the health and growth of your digital asset, along with actionable recommendations.

Executive Summary Report
A simple, one-page PDF report that highlights key performance indicators and work completed during the month.
Keyword Ranking Report
Tracking the positions of your most important keywords in Google to monitor SEO progress.
Traffic & Conversion Summary
A snapshot of key metrics from Google Analytics 4, including user trends, traffic sources, and conversion goals.
Google Search Console Health
A thorough check of GSC for any new indexing errors, manual actions, or crawlability issues.
Actionable Recommendations
Clear, prioritized recommendations for the upcoming month to capitalize on opportunities or address potential issues.

An Asset That Appreciates, Not Depreciates

Consistent, proactive maintenance is the difference between a website that fades and an asset that grows in value. This protocol is my commitment to that growth. If you’re looking for a long-term partner to protect and enhance your investment, we should talk.
